Default J's Snorkel

I know that with the J's/Mugen intake you must cut the stock hood, or get a aftermarket hood in order for it to fit. Does the J's (or Spoon) snorkel for the stock airbox require any modifications to the hood? I am planning to use Mugen, or spoon drop - in filter w./ a snorkel. The stock intake is very efficient from the factory, and I really do not want to modify my hood.

Also any of you with drop in filters- Did it make VTEC louder? It is pretty loud stock....

you're not really moddifying your hood.. you're just trimming a little on the underside in order for the snorkle to clear...

From my understanding you need to cut part of the skeleton of the hood?

Is there any trimming for the snorkel's?

j's makes two versions of snorkels for the stock box...one you need to cut the hood, and the other you don't...no cutting is needed with the spoon also...

I take it that one is bigger than the other, thus letting more air in?

not sure, snorkels are hard to dyno...

just because its bigger doesn't mean more air will get in faster...
