Default jacking up (off?) an S2000

I was just wondering if the Diff was designed to lift the car. There's a nub on the diff that looks like a jack would fit snugly. Infact, my jack does fit great. I've lifted it by the diff before, but is this safe?

safe for the diff or safe for the person goin under? ...

for the person NO ... always use jackstand ...

if your worried about crackin the diff, its safe ... after you reach the height you wanted, just put jackstands each side and remove the jack

yeah i always use jackstands, i just didnt wanna damage the diff getting the car up there. I have a large pad jack...so concentrating the force onto a small portion of the diff isnt a problem.

Thanks for the person who posted the S2Ki link with the diagrams saying to lift by the diff. lol diagrams make me feel better because they look so official.

Also, for the guy that said that you should NEVER lift by the diff: most RWD vehicles are able to be lifted by the diff. The S2K is a special case most everywhere else, and the diff has a "weakass" reputation, and it's suspended by bushings, so i figured i'd ask.

Wow.....a bit worked up aren't we? It is perfectly fine to jack up the car from the diff it will not hurt anything one bit. As far as it being a "lill ***** *** diff" well it may not be bulletproof on the inside but I would challege you to find one that has ever been damaged by a jack.

Jacking by the diff is fine, but it shouldn't rest on it for safety reasons. Use jack-stands after you jack the car up.

Apparently having your ASE doesn't mean much these days Remind me to never go to whatever the hell dealership you work at; If it even exists.

And btw, I don't like it. So will be leaving now.
