!!!How to turn the check engine light off completely!!!
Ok so I have a 2001 AP1 with about 66k on the motor. The check engine light has been on sence i have had the car....I have done everything that i know, and everything that everyone has told me to do to try to fix the problem...the car runs fine, and drives like nothing is wrong...im pretty much sick of looking at it, and now my maintenance req light is on...so i just want to get both dissabled for good, and ill deal with whatever happens when it comes...any help is appreciated! Thanks!
Did you pull the code, and if so, what is it?
your maint. light is easy...put key in ignition. hold down trip button, flip key to on position with trip button still being held, and wait a good 20 sec or so.

permanent marker? why disable them. they server a very important roll. pull the code and fix what's wrong. it's easy like pie.
good ****! thanks man! acctually you are the one that helped me on the whole thing...but instead of telling you the codes and getting back into everything im just to the point where i just want to get rid of the light with out fixing the problem
i know its a bad attitude but im pretty much over it.

atleast figure out the code and someone on here can most likely help. chances are the place you went didnt know ****, and it isn't uncommon for a stealership to be unhelpful .

you can reset the light with an obd2 scanner that you can buy from your local auto store. my friend pulls codes once in a while in his sc s2000, so he has to have the scanner to reset the light.
if anything the dealership should have been able to erase the light with out an issue, and im pretty sure their is a manual way to do it light reseting the main req light.

yeah but he should still get the problem fixed... take it to a reputable shop in the area to pull the code... then post what the code was... and then well tell you how to fix it... should be simple enough... if the place cant help you... tell them to expletive off and spit in there face... haha

in all honesty its probably a bad o2 sensor, or something of that nature.

hes probably getting random misfire codes with no misfire some people have been getting them and the dealer still hasnt figured it out. usually means swapping out the ecu to fix it
its pulling a missfire in the second cylinder and a bad secondary air pump...guys i have done everything to get this fixed...its not worth my time to look into it anymore...everyone on here gives me great suggestions but its the same everywhere i go...same questions/answers and nobody knows how to fix it...im not neglecting it trust me, i have spent over 700 dollars in shops trying to get it fixed and everyone keeps giving me the same answers "i dont know" so im pretty much done with dealing it. i have reset the light with and 0bd2 scanner and with the battery, but of course it still comes back. is there an easier way to getting it off without pulling the cluster? not to be a dick to anyone but i dont want to hear "get it fixed" i just want to see how to get the light off....but i do appreciate all the suggestions i really do, i just dont want to deal with it anymore.

Pick up a $10 OBD 2 scan tool from Pep Boys. Find out the DTC P0000 and google it. Once you have a description of whats going on then post it up for others to help trouble shoot. Oil light is easy as pressing the two buttons on the cluster with the key off, hold them for 15 sec, while holding them down turn the key into the 2nd position with out starting the car, it will flash a couple times and your golden.
How about you drive it off a cliff? So you dont sell someone a neglected S2000. Man up and fix the car.

Pull the bulb out of the cluster, or try and find someone else with a S2000 and swapyou ecu with them. If it still comes on then its something mechanically that you will want to fix. Or get aem EMS and then you can just tell it to go away.
I'd do the ECU thing.
Not all Honda dealers know how to deal with these cars. I'm not at all joking either. I wanted to order a hardtop for mine from my local dealer, but they couldn't figure out how. I was taking it to them for regular maintenance till they gave the keys to some dumbass kid...he left oil all over my steering wheel, shift **** and e-brake handle.
They won't be touching my car again.
