say he is going turbo and making 400hp, which everyone should have thought thats what he meant anyways, and has a rear end that can handle the power; what is the hp limit on the stock tranny?
I would not worry about the trans right now, it will hold 400HP no problem. The thing you need to worry about it the rear dif!

well there definetly is a limit, or else inline pro wouldn't need to run that $20k, or what ever it cost, ppg gearbox; they are at ~750whp. I know with b series tranny's it seems like you start ripping off gears past the 500whp level. So I was just wondering if anyone had any experience or knowledge on about when the s2k tranny just can't take anymore power. Not that I have an s2k at that power level, but it would just be good information to have out there.

Look into cryo treating your gears if you start damaging your gears.
Oh and the b series is good till about 650 not 500
(Oh course this is a very general figure, there are allot of factors here)

It was a joke. Of course your tranny has a limit.
I've seen S2K's with stock trannys up to 500whp. Start there.

$20k?? Contact inline pro about this, its much less than that for a dog setup with drop gears, and even cheaper for synchro....

As long as you don't shift crazy fast and take it easy on it. Then the 400hp should be no problem for the tranny. Get that diff looked at though. If a stock s2k can take it out, then 400hp will definetely do the trick at an accelerated pace.

sorry, i guess i read some bad info in a thread somewhere. all i was getting at is that there is a point at which the stock gear box will not be enough and you will have to get a several thousand dollar custom tranny. thats good to know that they dont cost that much, sorry for putting out bad info.

I agree its not all in the amount of power you are putting down, it is more to do with how you actually drive the car. If you don't abuse it too much 400whp will be absolutely fine. If you are planning on abusing it take a look at the kit offered by inline pro .. that is what everyone goes with.
