Default Hardop vs convertable

Ok, ive been saving for a while, and when i graduate next year, i got my eyes set on a s2000.(sorry crx, gotta go) Thing is, some people say that the pereformance is effected alot with a convertable s2k and some say, its not noticable. Anybody have a for sure answer since yall are the experts? If its very lil difference, ill probly get the convertable since, ive only seen one hardtop. All the ones for sale are softies. IF there is any noob questions in here, sorry.

just to make sure everyones on the right page...the s2000 isn't really available in a "coupe" option w/ a hardtop. the hardtop comes as an accessory, more or less, that you can add on to any model year s2k.

the performance difference of the hardtop vs. the soft top is about 5-9mph at the end of a straight-away before braking depending on the track.

as far as aesthetics, with the hardtop on, there is less wind/tire/outside noise inside the car. The hardtop provides negligible "chassis stiffening" features. The rear glass is large and minimizes blind spots. There is also added security from the hardtop from theft of cutting the soft top.

I have been thinking of picking up a theft recovery S, and making it a dedicated track car.

In theory shouldn't you be able to remove the soft top, motor and other accessories etc, then replace w/a hardtop to save weight?

If so, anyone have any idea on how much those things weigh?

Sorry to drift OT here...

yes, that's what I have done, removed the soft top assembly and I'm only running the hardtop. Depending on which hardtop you get (mugen or OEM), you'll be saving at least 50lbs. Some say the OEM hardtop is light...it's actually pretty heavy compared to the mugen cf top. I could remove and install the mugen cf top by myself, but with the OEM top, 2 people are a must and even then, you can feel the weight.
