Hard top question
it doesn't turn the trunk into a hatch literally. it's just built to connect back there, theres a pic of the trunk and the "hatch" of the HT open flying around somewhere.
Yah it does
Its to bad that it is only an add on. kind of worthless to have then. If they made it to bolt up in the place of the trunk that would be even better.

peronally i disagree with that, it looks good as an add-on. You probably have seen some pictures of it if you read Honda Tuning. It was in the February 04 issue. This hard top adds a rear quarter window and a trunk lip spoiler in its design. It is currently used on Spoon Sports' new endurance machine. Spoons S2K will compete in Japan's Super Taikyu series. This hardtop is wind tunnel-tested to improve fuel consumption by 8% and increase top speed by 6.2 mph. It is designed by Mooncraft and Spoon will sell it in April 04. It is unknown at this time whether it will be available in the U.S.

I've seen that.....that was how the supposed "*NEW* S2200"(photoshopped?) was gonna look like stock.
Kinda makes it look like an old 280Z....I dig it.
although...I'm sure you could probably get the mugen Carbon top for the price of that one?????I'd stick w/ the regular hardtop.

design logic is a smoother airflow across the roof of the car and making the air more effective for the rear spoiler, reducing the need for one that sits higher and is wider. IMO, it looks ugly, but I also like ugliness like the stack cluster and spoom wheels.

I understand physics. I was refering to how it is made seperate from the trunk. In-person I would be able to understand that part of the design logic. When they built this hardtop drag wasn't all they considered. They needed to work with what Honda created and keep the trunk functional.

the rear section is a hinge type that raises, then one can open the trunk

could be rules in a particular class, but my thought would be for suspension adjustments - that can be done quickly in the pits by lifting up the rear hatch, and any fuel cell/fuel line maintenance that needs to be done from the rear.

If you look closely you will notice that no angle is more than 15 degrees the point at which air flow begins to seperate from the surface it's traveling over cuasing turbulence.
Having seen the moon craft hatch up close it's really only for racing. And only for cause with gravity feed fuel cells. Suspension tuning most likely will require the removal of the top.
The need for this arose when at the current power level there top speed was drag limited. Other cars in that class run up to and over 170. Part of this is possible due to the extremely low altitude of there race tracks and the sub zero temps some races are run in.
Spoon has other changes to there package and J's has stepped up there aero programs as well.
With a solid paint scheme like red and some gold BBS rims with a polished lip it looks like the old ferrari GT cars with a modern touch
Certainly nowhere near as fugly as the hatch back Z3 BMW was
