Hey you guys I probably should have searched this but its just a quick question. Do you think its possible to get into a s2000 maybe for around 10k? I have been wanting one since I first saw one and I just a got a new job that will allow me to have enough to finance the thing. Do you think its possible?

S2000's came out in 2000, not any year before. You will be hard pressed to find them under 14-15k.

oops yeah, I forgot they only came in 2000. It feels like 2000 was so long ago. Anyway okay so im looking at around 14-15k, not too bad at all. How are your insurance rates on these things? I have a clean record and **** but a good guess is all im asking.

Also when Im looking at the dealerships for s2k's what are some things that I should pay special attnetion too other than the usual stuff, tires, brakes, heating/cooling, oil levels, ect.

Thanks

on the test drive check for differential wine. or any funny tranny noises. the transmition should be very very smooth. make sure vtec works :-D haha.
insurance isnt to bad either. it is a sports car and a convertable so get a vin number and call for an estimate. also if you can find an 02 within your proce range get it. there are many problems with the plastic back glass and 02 they started coming with glass, plus there are less problems with the 02 +. your price range is going to limit you alot.

Not trying to be a jerk, but it sounds to me like you may not be able to afford an S2000 right now. You don't want a car payment taking up a large percentage of your expendable funds. Any S's in your price range are going to have high miles, a salvage title, or some other issue that will eat up even more of your money. Do you still live at home?

at your age u wont have established credit so ur financing is going to be higher than normal and ur age will affect the insurance, but hows ur towns rep? im in nj which has the highest cost of living, so when i got an insurance qoute...it was high.

go to a dealer tell them what u want and what u can afford and see if they can make it work, also as stated prev get a vin call up your current agent and ask what the difference in ur policy would be if ur replacing? or adding a 2nd car. if u have the money to put into the car its very much worth the investment...but if its gonna make u tight then be smart and save ur money establish good credit and get an education first, then ull be in ur mid twenties and can afford much nicer cars.

and still pick up a s and tune without worrying about the cost...big expense for this car is replacement tires, especially if u drive it they way it was meant to drive.

Kool, thanks for the help. As was said I dont want to be strapped for cash, but I make good money, about $1,800 a month. On top of that Im in my final year of school. It may be wise to wait on the s2k for a bit but I will most likely be getting one in the next 6 months or so. I will do as suggested and check the dealers and my insurance company, thanks for the help guys.
