i wanted to know what size the stock gears are in a 2000 S2k. i also wanted to know whats a good gear swap for the rear end. can yall pease let me know

stock = 4.1

daily driving just want faster 4.56 (can also be used in supercharger applications)
going for an all motor setup 4.77
going for something crazy.. full track car.. 5.10

j's and mazdaspeed makes them...

i like them, revhi has them and they ride nice...

its my daily driver so something reliable but i dont wanna lose to much top in cuse i like killing the mustangs on tha higway

I'm buying the 4.77 kia gears from the dealership I work at.

They are made by mazda, which also makes our stock gears.

as soon as i get my tax return this week im ordering 4.56 gears, should i upgrade my housing ( i wont be doing any hard launching) or just a gear swap be fine

youl be fine with just gears...

comptech housing isnt anything special...if anything upgrade to an ap2 diff housing...

I got the 4.77's from the s2ki group buy...the company is called Motorclasse, they're located in Korea. Took them 3 days to get here! (New York) I'll be installing them this weekend hopefully, I'll let everyone know how it goes

hows the install for this, is it hard, im pretty mechanicly inclined

clutch yes, never took a tranny apart, but replaced a trans on a beries many times. I have a torque wrench and any tool i need, ive done axles..etc

edit call me stupid but im a replacing the final drive gear in the tranny or the gear in the differential

if you did tranny work on another car, you should be able to install a FD. just have a helm's/service manual for those small specs. its very imp't to follow them so you don't get weird noises later

don't you need a special took to install the gears? someone was mentioning this to me...

Nope!!! U need to know how to set the backlash but no special tools!!! I have done some on mustangs and rangers when i worked for ford but never on an s. I hope i can find some 1 in ATl. that has done 1 before!!! Who are you going to let do yours Francesco???

to be honest, i think im going to buy one of the prepped diffs from HTG and just installs the diff myself and ship my old one back to him.
