Gas question
I was on running late today for my 6pm class and I noticed I was low on gas too. So what happened was I think I ran out of gas on the highway. I managed to pull over to the shoulder and noticed I still had 2 little bars for gas on the cluster but no gas light* thats why I said I think*. Anyway, I called a friend and she managed to rescue me and brought me a gallon of gas. The car didnt start right away so I had to push it off the highway with her civic and we came to a light I told her to start it up and it worked. What I didnt know was she brought me regular gas, thats probably why it didnt start up right away. So now im posting the question here. Would a gallon of regular effect the S? It was just a gallon but before I fill up my tank I wanted to know if theres anything I should do besides slapping my friend *j/k
1 gallon is okay. just don't do it often. or actually never again.
the owners manuel says it is okay to do it if you can't get to high octane but just make sure to fill it up with some more high after.

it didnt right away cuz the gas line was still empty..

wtf is fuel cleaner gonna to do? add some octane?

i would be more worried about your gas light not coming on and your car stalling when it still had gas?!?!? maybe your fuel gauge isnt working correctly. i would get that checked out. something is wrong here.

You could run a whole tank of regular unleaded and it would be fine...just dont do it often...the biggest issue you'll have is lack of performance, the S2000's computer will compensate to keep the motor from pinging...but running that octane gas in your car (like the S2000) just ensures you'll have more crap in the fuel system over time, and loss of performance...
the gas light on my cluster Is stupid. Its like its own limbo or something. Gh3y.
anywho, you should be okay. If your still feelin iffy, add some octane booster that you can buy at your local parts department store

you said you had 2 bars. well my gas light doesn't come on until I have 1 bar left. maybe that is why it didn't come on. I would be a little worried though, why did your car die when you still had 2 bars left?? I would ask Honda, that is if you still have a warranty.

YOU CAN PUT REGULAR GAS IN IT, IT WON'T HURT THE ENGINE IT JUST WON'T PERFORME AS WELL AS THE HIGHER OCTANE. YOU WILL FEEL MORE WHAT YOU THINK IS A MISSFIRE AND IT MIGHT HESITATE A LITTLE MORE OFTEN, BUT AS FAR AS YOU ENGINE IS CONCERNED REGULAR GAS WON'T HURT IT.
Regular gas will not hurt the engine? NO! If you continue to use regular, it will hurt the engine. If you happen to get a gallon or so of it, its not going to hurt.
Don't type in caps, its very annoying!

You guys all make valid points, but!
If you put 1 gallon of 87 into, say... 3 gallons of 91 that's left in the tank, the ECU will adjust to compensate for the slightly lower octane by retarding the ignition timing. The engine might hold up decently well, unless he VTECs it all the way to the gas station.
In the OP's case, the 1 gallon of 87 octane was the ONLY gas that was in the tank, and it's entirely subjective what damage it did to his car. He has yet to post whether he noticed anything pinging when he started and drove the car... if he even did.
Oz is correct, the fuel line was empty, therefore it did not start on the first try. The very first combustion that happened on the start will be the determining factor whether the motor was damaged. After that, the block-mounted knock sensor would have compensated and help prevent ANY FURTHER pings from happening.
I will agree with JDM Knowledge, she really does need to be choked. Either that or put her backdoor up for free access until further notice.
Getting the gas gauge checked/fixed is a preventive measure for future safety, but it will not reverse any damage that's already done. Compression/leakdown anyone?
