FINAL GEAR ?????
AP1/2 OEM FD is 4.1.
4.7 FD isn't bad for the motor but it will affect top speed while improving acceleration. It will not improve the engine's power number-wise.

4.56 is most likely your best bet... its doesnt sacrifice too much top speed, but at the same time will improve acceleration...
whoever said you will be cruising in vtec doesnt know wtf there talking about...even at 75-80 in an ap1 you will be below 6000rpms...practicality is relative...it will be easier for the engine to push/pull the car when accelerating therefore increasing mpg theoretically...mpg is not dependent solely on rpm but also throttle position...thus if u need less throttle to sustain a given speed less fuel consumption...geez

no you won't...vtec kicks in at 95mph in 6th. I had 4.77's on my Ap1

Guess you've never driven a car with 4.77's.

RPM speed is a much bigger factor. Most of the time, higher rpm speed usually means the throttle body will be open more as well in order to sustain that faster speed (and higher rpm). We're not dumb here. You are right about not cruising in vtec though. Take it on mythbusters or something and test your theory though.

haha ohhh and another thing i forgot, with the 4.56 gears, if you decide to go FI, you will be a lot happier with that gear setup than 4.77's

Quite the opposite. The best efficiency of an engine is when you give full throttle, because there's less pumping losses. Therefore, the key is to gear it as long as possible, because if rpm are low enough you can cruise with an almost fully open throttle....plus less frictional losses when there's less rpms. This is why Corvettes get good highway mileage. I also remember the CRX HF was geared so high that it could probably go 500mpg given enough power.

theres alot more to it than throttle and rpm's...i did not go into deep detail as i thought it was unnecessary...also i could have sworn that all the gas efficient crx's and civics all came with different engines than the top tier models greatly contributing to there fuel efficiency not necessarily just the factor of gearing... it can be complicated to get into but there are numerous geared s2000 owners that have documented no to even an improvement in mpg...being that we neither have hard numbers i will not say you are wrong or that i am right...this is just my opinion
coulda sworn that i said i was neither right nor wrong as we do not have all the facts and still u complain...if i was a teacher i would bust out a book and say page xyz...i clearly said its my opinion...i conceded the discussion...u are entitled to your belief and i respected that

Hey LLoyd, how about that Lewis Hamilton huh? He makes me smile.
I'm hoping Sato will do better as the races progress. I don't have high hopes for him at Indy though...

Sato and the Super Aguri really did well at an eventful Canadian GP. I'll be there to see him in person as I will be leaving for Indianapolis on Sat. night.
