Default fast question.

ok me and my buddy got into an argument last night. he said his 99 hatch with b16a2 COMPLETELY STOCK with bigger injectors and some chip to make it idle right... could beat a stock s2000 and a stock rsx type S. i told him theres no WAY his 170 HP could keep up with the 220 and 240 that the rsx and s2k put out. he got really mad and told me i always belive what i read on hondatech and that everyone on here doesnt know **** blah blah blah. he claims that he shifted into second going like 40 and the s2k shifted into second as well. he said they both got on it at the same time and he pulled on the s2k untill it gave up. i then told him that when he shifted into 3rd gear the s2k should have been passing him at like 7200 rpms still having another 700 or more rpms of pure vtec screaming in his face while it passes him ... so what im asking is... will someone PLEASE back me up so i can send him this link so he realizes that his b16 is not as fast as he thinks it is. because i have a 127 hp civic and i beat him through 1st gear and half way through 2nd before he catches up. whenever i bring that up he makes up some excuse... thanks for your time!

A swapped B16 civic will not beat a stock S2000 I don't even have to explain why. Look at the power to weight ratio. 99' Civic hatch weighs about (somebody correct me if i'm wrong) 23/2500 lbs. while the S2000 weighs approximately 2800 lbs. AP1 S2000 = 240hp/153lbs. ft., 99' EK(b16)= 170hp/111 lbs. ft. w/ only the S2000 weighing only a few more hundred pounds then the civic. You do the math. There's a video on Youtube of a stock S2000 racing 3 civics w/ different swaps (b16/b18c1/H22) pulling on both the b16 and b18 civic, H22 EG pulled on the S2000.

Thats what i would expect to happen. Look at 1/4 mile times...

b16a powered ek runs low 15s high 14s, the s2k is about a second faster then that. A gsr powered ek is low to mid 14s.

thanks. i told them that. but they kept saying weight isnt that big of a factor.. and that it depends on the driver and whatnot. i said even if there was the best driver in the world in your hatch it still wont beat a s2000 and thats when he got really mad. haha anywho thanks alot!

i'll eat a b16 no matter what car its in, i run 13.7@101! ek's weigh 2600-2700 lbs. that car might be lucky to trap 92mph in the 1/4

well the thing is.. he was put on hault for his motor build. he has everything to completely build that b16 up. rods, cams, valves, connecting rods, valve springs and retainers, throttle body intake manifold.. thats all i can remember... haha but anyways the crankshaft never came with his order. so he put the injectors in like a week ago on the day his crankshaft was posta come so he could bring the car to intech to get built... that probly doesnt make sence does it? but thats why

The s2k is still gonna be faster. The only way a b16a powered hatch is gonna be faster then a s2k is:

1. turbo charged
2. stripped theif recovery super lightweight eg/ek and a very aggressive high hp b16a build

When you said "fast question" I thought it be a sentence or two....lol...anyway...I use to drive an EK with a Type R bottom and GSR head and trust me....it was nothing to boast about. There was a reason why I sold that car and got an AP2 instead. Maybe a k20a hatch can hang with the s2k. I just can't believe your friend ended up racing a crappy driver in the S2k and now he has all this big ego about his car. It's okay, tell him to race another dude with an S2k that maybe knows how to drive or something....maybe the result might be different.
