Default Engine/Transmission Options

Hey,

I sold my S2K in 2014 but I find myself wanting another one. I’ve been looking at prices and they are quite steep, I’ve found one that has high mileage but is overall in decent shape for $9000. It is still functional and I think it would probably work for a long time, it’s just not as smooth as an engine with 100k on the clock, it has 215k.

Since crate engines are drying up and old ones are going for premiums to the point of being ridiculous, what are the options for rebuilding these engines and transmissions? I know boring isn’t practical but I’ve heard of people sleeving the engine but how many shops actually do this and how long does it take? I live in Alabama so I don’t have a ton of options around me, at least I believe.

Thanks,
Steven

A standard rebuild with quality parts ought to give you a reliable daily driver. Just keep up with maintenance!
