Default Engine damper

Has anyone ever done tests with the J's engine damper to see it's positive, or negative effects, on WHP and torque trasnferred to the ground with and without it?

For the same reason some poly mount inserts do...they lessen the amount the engine moves allowing more power to be transferred through the drivetrain and not lost.

Measuring hp lost or gained by this mod is very difficult. The effects of shifting and engine vibration/torque dampening is enough for most people.

seems difficult to measure indeed. but only drag racing the car on a strip would indicate any improvements within the 60ft. times. not much else.

I am sure that there is SOME positive effect, but nothing that can really be measured per say.

Yeah, the positive affect is shaking your car and subsequently, your *** to death at idle. Fun stuff.

it helped me with 2nd to 3rd gear shift
engine vibrates a lot less with a vortech supercharger and the dampender

unfortunately my current turbo is in the way. I gotta find anotherway of mounting this dampener.

Does anyone have a pic of this installed? I would like to see how it mounts to the engine.

Thanks

I definitely notice a quiet rattle with the J's Racing ETD as oppose to the clickity-clank I was getting in my engine bay without it.

The shifter rattle is non-existent now wth the ETD. I don't notice any improvements in shifter feel or smoothed out shift gates. My shifter still feels minty fresh as it did back when the car had 10 miles on it....then again, I don't think I've ever let my trans fluid get used over 10k miles.

And most likely you rarely speed/power shift or grind gears.

I do power shift from time to time (but only at "events").

I've been known to grind in the 2-3 upshift when my hand gets super excited and is slightly faster than my left knee/ankle/foot.

you don't have a short shifter do you?

i have that axial one ricks makes, but i think im gong to take it out and put the OEM one back in.

i need to purchase an ETD soon to see what its like.

The damper does not raise hp/tq settings, it gives better response from the output shaft to the wheels by taking away the flex/stress put on the motor mounts.

Negs: Strut tower flexing from the extra torque. An STB would be needed in this case.

Nope...no short shifter. I don't need anything shorter on the S2000 than what comes stock. I'd hate to lose that feel for each distinctive gear. I've driven cars with the Axial and the Distincto Bellino short shifter...it's just not for me. I don't save anymore time in shifts, nor do I need to. Me getting to my friends' homes .32432 seconds earlier in my short-shifting s2000 isn't a priority.

The engine would have to produce over 500lb/ft of torque running a triple plate clutch and slicks launching at a drag strip to flex the passenger strut tower running a ETD. At that point, you'd be flexing the chassis anyways, fast and furious style!

I'd get one though.. I'd seen my motor move quite a bit.

Is it worth having an engine damper both sides? Has anyone done this?

Thanks

No, the engine torques only one way, unless you plan on racing in reverse.
