mostlikely thats what happened. so you might as well upgrade no point of getting the oem crap unless u get the ap2 diff.

yeah i am the master at snapping diffs. i am on my third. i thought about rebuilding my second since i just lost a few teeth on the ring and pinion but i knew i would just break it again. i went ahead and bought an ap2 diff. my first diff cracked all the way across though and was completely unsalvageable.

ohh and also do you plan on doing the work yourself? i will let you know ahead of time that it is a bitch and that was with me using a lift. if you need some tricks on making it easier let me know

I got an extra ap1 diff just incase. I actually got it b4 I got the the S. My dad brought it home from work one day saying they wanted to junk it because acouple of the fins broke off and it wasnt selling. He was like take it apart *** with it or sell it. Anyways when I got my S and did some reaserch I wasnt happy that the ap1 diffs were crap but was happy I ended up keeping that diff.

Search for member Shock on s2ki.com. He is a buddy of mine who just rebuilt his diff. He used an '05 housing which is much stronger than the AP1. I think for the new diff, tools (dial caliper, etc.) and a J's Racing gear set he has about $1,5 in his. Of course he is a mechanic by trade and did the install himself, saving him about $600 in labor. Good luck.
