Decision 08
Im looking at a 04 s2k with 55k on the clock for $15k CLEAN TITLE. The only mods the car has are, T1R coilover and Enkie RPFs. The owner has owned it since it has had 8k miles. The owner stated "that he got a new car and just wants to sell this one fast". Im in no rush to purchase but this is a hell of a deal. The owner seems very honest and I am no Noob to Honda and buying cars.
I asked about service records and he stated that has done everything needed by him self and friends, like brakes and etc and has no records. Im kinda worried.
What does a 04S2k need by 55k? Is the car worth it?
I haven't checked out the car yet, but from the pics it looks fairly clean. The owner stated that the rear bumper has a few scrapes and that the RF fender has been replaced because it was hit.
What specifically should I be looking at when I check it out besides carfax, if the cars pull side to side or if there are any leaks?
Here are a few pics. Besides a little bigger gap on the cars right side fender and the scrapes on the rear bumper, I don't see anything else. Thanks for your support H-T.
If you see something I don't let me know.

It does seem like a good deal. However, I would think that a reputable body shop should have fixed that right side fender and made it look OE. I would be concerned there wasn't more damage if the fender doesn't line up correctly.
As for the maintenance, I am guilty of not organizing my brake and oil changes well because I do them myself.
I'd run the carfax and see what it entails. And ask him more about that hit on the ride side. Find out what exactly happened. Take it for a drive and see if it is in good mechanical condition. Or, you could see if he'll let you take it to a garage and have them do an inspection of it.

the fenders are rolled/pulled thats why they look like that.
from the simple fact that they did the front fenders right to clearn x9's tells me they know a thing or 2 about a S2K.
but at 55k there isnt much to it maint. wise. just run the carfax and if you choose to have it inspected.

Agreed and not what I was referring to. I was thinking the "gap" he mentioned was elsewhere in the fender due to it being replaced from the accident; not the fender rolling.

Does the price seem suspicious? Im from the Bay Area , so I am not used to anything being cheap.
As for the accident it happened before the guy bought the car. He told me that it was a Honda certified car. I think I can tinker and make it fit better. I installed several JDM front ends on Tegs and had worse to work with.

Long time 8 months. I almost bought a 04 with 17k miles for 19k last month. But the dude was a dick and kept changing terms last minute, so I said [freak] it.
I saw it. It was 05 GPW with 80k. To expensive and looked really rough.

i don't think you would have any problem selling the car for a little more money than what you would be paying for it if you wanted to make a few quick dollars.

UPDATE
I saw the car today and it was flawless, besides a few scratches from DD the car. It dove like new. The interior and engine looked brand new and has a Honda warranty for 100k. He pretty much bought it brand new in 04 with like 5k on the clock. We made a deal for 15k and it looks like ill be picking it up tomorrow.
Quick question.
Does the Honda Care Warranty transfer over to the new owner?
