so the rear tire is hitting the fender or it sounds like the coilover itself is bad?

is the coilover bottoming out?? or is it rubbing.. two complete differnt things...

if the coilover is bottoming out you adjusted them incorrectly...

do you have a picture of the actual coilovers? so i can take a look at it? ... i'll be able to explain it to you better if i can see what the coilovers look like..

megan coilovers are only 4 way adjustable. they are pretty much a re-labeled buddy club some say...

the dampening adjustability doesn't really have much to do with the coilovers actually bottoming out...

either way looking at this picture.....

there are three rings, you need to set up the preload on the spring section first... (the top two rings) once the spring is preloaded and set in place with the top two rings, then you loosen the bottom ring... then you twist the spring around to adjust the height... this will make the (black threaded piece) either go in the bottom housing or out of it... this will adjust the ride height...

i have a feeling you might have messed the pre loads up...

most coilovers come out of the box pre adjusted, and if you dont know what your doing you can mess the pre loads up very bad...

i never touched the pre loads with my zeals, and they are still fine...

if your shocks are bottoming out....the top is probably hitting your bump stops..(rubber)

look at this below picture.....

you want at least half an inch to an inch space between your bump stop, when the shock is compressed..... (this picture is of the shocks decompressed on a lift..)

if you are bottoming out the shocks... (metal to metal) you want to stop driving immediately... otherwise you will have blown shocks...

if you want to redo the preload on your springs....

lift them up.. using the top two rings... till the spring is barely secured... you should be able to touch it and move it slightly..(and i mean slightly) once you've done that tighten it up one revolution... then tighten the two rings and you should be set.... but keep in mind.. you want around half an inch to an inch of shaft showing when the shock is compressed.... so when the car is lowered you should see more then half an inch of shiny stuff..

to check how much space you have while the car is on jack stands.. is... get a hydro jack and put it under the brake and jack it up... allow the car to barely lift off the jack stand on that one side... a quarter of an inch will do and that'll show you what it'll look like when compressed..

the bottoming out would be depended on how much of the shaft you actually see beetween the bumpstop and the top of the shock...

the bottoming out doesnt happen when im riding on the highway and hit a bump. you only can feel it when im driving very slowly and hit a little bump. like in a parking lot.

Sorry but have to ask, are you also using scales to corner weight the car?

When you are bottoming out, are you "just" hitting the bump stop? How low is your ride height? (I ended up cutting my bump stops in 1/2 to be able to achieve the ride height I wanted.)

it doesnot sound like its hitting metal to metal so if i cut the bump stop will it stop hitting?

you want to re-preload the spring before you opt for cutting the bumpstop

pre-loading the spring will reduce the amount of droop travel that the susp has and can cause inside wheels to lift un-necessarily in corners if you use too much of it.
