clutch pack problem

my friends got a 00 s2000 and he's got this problem and hond wants 1100 from him to fix it and i was wondering if he could just put in a new Clutch?

He can do whatever he wants. For the time and effort it will prob take him to do the clutch install, i'd make sure that's what it is
