The factory player is not made to read mp3's.
Get an aftermarket cd player and you should be good.

CD players tend to die out over time. Often times cheaper to replace than to fix. Especially when dealing with stockies.

Best advice - Replace it, or simply get rid of it altogether.

The stock S2K sound system is not worth putting a penny into without replacing EVERYTHING, especially on AP1's.

Maybe on an 00-01 but the 02+ are better, and the 06+ are MUCH better.

I would say the 06+ are...somewhat decent I guess...

But stock Honda soundsystems are usually trash; the 00-01 S2K is terrible, and I'd say the 02+ isn't a heck of a lot better...but a separate tweeter adds a bit more dynamic.

I would get an aftermarket headunit but i really like the dashboard controls lol.i know i can wire aftermarket units to use the dashboard controls but i suck at wiring.
Is there a comparatively cheap way to play mp3s with the stock radio.then, i wouldnt worry about this issue all together.

They sell an audio control unit that replaces the oem radio controls, look identical but controls your aftermarket radio. Price is $250 though for that.

The Modifry DCI is very easy to install! Since the controls are already going to the HU, you can get the DCI along with the stereo adapter harness (you will need this with any aftermarket head unit) and its plug and play.

The unit is 90 + 12 for the harness if you wanted it.

Here is info on it...

I am not sure what you are talking about but it sounds completely un-needed.
