you are absolutely correct...with a few passes on the previous setup you do begin to notice slight buzz from the diff.

that's a very nice time on drag radial.... congrat
what is your car power to weight ratio now?
what was your best time with street radial?

BTW The diff is not the only weakness in our drive train. I have a 4.44 gear set in a oem diff. I broke my axle on 3rd launch at last drag.

sorry I dont have no new numbers since we are still putting the built block together. I never ran on street radials with the old setup. The car made between 380 to 400 at the wheels previously. I will keep everyone posted on the outcome

are you building this strictly for drag racing?? or are you also driving this on the streets?

That doesnt make sense. Not putting the tubes through the dash and such puts the bars closer to your (un-helmeted) head on the street, which is exactly what you dont want.

The forward tubes going from the main hoop toward the a-pill also look awfully low to me as well.

If you're going to trash a $20k car with a cage, you might as well do it right the first time, IMHO.

that cage is unsafe for driving on the street

why 3.9's? where did you even get 3.9's? won't that add some stress to the launch since 1st gear will now be good for about 50mph?

Maybe you are using shorter tires? Did you guys figure out the gearing to maximize 4th gear at the end of the qtr? (like you will trap at 125mph which will be the top of 4th with the longer gearing)?

some guy in Florida was going to put a solid rear axle in a drag S2000, but gave up and sold all the parts.

I have to get another number for you to. I'll PM you with that info. As for the other comments from others regarding the cage, thank you for your concerns I will share them with the builder...

Scot,

based upon the previous runs and considering the new setup, the differential builder ran some numbers and decided 3.90s were the way to go. Again, this will be trial and error until we get the right setup. Thanks

I don't think that cage is going to legal for a single digit pass. The tubing placement is extremely critical and to be honest the a pillar tubes are done terribly even if i were to not go throught the dash i would have bent the tubing to follow the original chassis better. That is the whole idea to keep the outer shell from moving in at all in the event of a crash. I guess it really depends on what equipment was used to manufacture the cage as well. We use a computer controlled bender that follows our cad program for each individual tube. Our roll cages are design on cad then go through some stress testing programs to come up with the best possible placement and tubing od and wall thickness. Anyways I wish you the best of luck with the car and you new set-up!
