yea me too. You don't redesign a car for ONE YEAR. That is a total waste of money and makes zero sense financially for any company to do so.

Unless the S2000s are SO bad right now, that Honda is actually considering pulling the product line. But I doubt that.

I work at a Honda dealership, and we just got a brand new s2000 in today, and are supposed to be getting 2 more next Tuesday. I havent heard **** about the s2000's going out of production, and as TommyV said, why would they redesign only to end production after one year?

Thats all a crock of crap. Honda just built a new factory to build the S2000. Why would they do that if they were stopping production?

To add to the list of rumors: I heard Honda is thinking about bringing the Prelude back to take over the S2000.

and if you were a salesperson, you'd tell them anything to sell a car... even that it is being discontinued. same goes for the 2000's, the 2001's the 2002's and on. each year it's the same thing.

on the other hand, believe everything the salesperson tells you.</TD></TR></TABLE>

knowing more info than a salesperson is the key..make them feel unconfident..
the best thing is, is research as much as u can, and make the salesman feel stupid since ur loaded with all the info...i used to do sales till someone shut me up real good... .02

Boxster S

Boxster

So, the S2000 is a little bit faster. But not much. Prices aren't too too far apart, and, from my readings, the Porsche is a much more refined car (I mean, it IS a Porsche...)

So yes, the S2000 is a bit quicker and cheaper, but you're comparing top of the line Honda to bottom of the line Porsche, and the S2k isn't really "more than a rival for a freakin boxster..." it's about on par, I'd say.

those numbers look correct but the price on a boxster is close to a s2000, i belive the boxster S is more and i just checked

s2000 = 31K
boxster = 43K
boxster S = 54K

in my eyes a car that costs 20K more or 25% more is not a close competitor or rival. The idea is for a 25-35K convertible how many cars can beat the s2000? Dont bring up evo or sti cuz those aint convertibles. Plus look at mpg on a boxster either one vs. s2000? Anyways i have said enough. In the end I would much rather have atop of the line car from a great brand than have the lowest car in a great line. Porsche is known for VW engines in their cars, i dont wanna be associated with than and in the end I put the s2000 everyday of the week over porsche

Don't be suprised if honda do end the production of the S2k. I'd hardly call the new model a major change, its still an AP1 after all. It's looking a bit worrying on the Jap sports car front. No more skyline, no RX-7, no S15, No more EVO, No more NSX, No more S2000, No more Supra....whats going on?! What's going to happen to JGTC!!??

s2000 always beat the crap out of the boxster.

that's with 2 less cylinder and 24second auto top down

i dont think the sales' statement holds any water

I've heard from several people that '05 may be the last year.
having said that, go to hardtopguy.com and check on the site there. they have a deal on s2k's all the time. Hardtopguy sells s2k's across the country so he has built quite a reputation on the s2ki.com site.

Well, I just checked the fuel economy numbers on the S2000 vs. a Boxster S

S2000 20/26
Boxster S 18/26

So very little difference there.

And Porsche stopped using VW engines a loooooooong time ago. Most porsche's are flat 6's, and, to my knowledge, VW stopped using aircooled boxer engines in the 60's or so (I know ...they kept building them in mexico yadayada)

Just so y'all know, I'm not trying to make the S2k look bad and the Boxster/Boxster S good. I'm a Porsche lover, but the Boxster would definetly not be my choice. I'm also not a big Honda fan at all, but I'm kind of liking the S2k.

Just throwing out some info.

a lot less torque and 3.9L doesnt seem bad when I could put more torque out with a bicycle than a dx. fact is a 3.9L V8 for honda is a big step and a big step from where we are now, just my input

It's good if they discontinued the S2k at 2005. That makes the demand goes up and your resale value goes up as well.

yea, maybe, maybe not.

and while a 3.9L V8 would have less torque than other bigger V8's...3.9L of torque would certainly be adequate...figure about 270-300lb-ft. Torque is directly related to displacement, with some exceptions. On a side note, I know people complain about the torque on the S2000 and other DOHC Hondas, but I don't see any other 2L I4's putting out 153 lb-ft. I know that's the peak, but most of the range is 140+ which is still higher than the peak torque of many competing 2L engines. All in all, Honda DOHC motors have very good torque figures...flat and high for their size.

A bit of trivia, but the 3.2L M3 motor has the highest torque per liter...83lb-ft.

The Boxster 'S' is about the same price as an S2000?!?!? And it should be better because it's a Porsche?!?!? I'm all for playing devil's advocate, but your facts are dead wrong.

neonorific20, you need to do some research before posting this stuff...really.
