is it worth getting a vtec controller?

vtec controler is not worht it. rice in my opinion
most don't modify fuel and none modify spark. you need extensive modification past just very basic bolt ons to warrent changing the stock engaugement point and at that you would also want to be modifying ignition
i hate vtec controlers, they engauge the hi cam without the ecu being on the hi cam fuel and spark map so the ecu cannot be making proper compensation for the higher lift and duration when vtec is engauged
if you think your at the point for some type of fuel management, look into http://www.pgmfi.org or hondata or aem ems, depending on your budget

Hondata = OBD1 ECU of some kind or another. There are not a whole lot of OBD1 ECUs that can also handle ATTS.

there are none.
if you wanna keep your ATTS, you pretty much have to go with an E-manage or a VAFC. looking at your level of mods, both are appropriate to your build. someone mentioned earlier that it's not about peak hp and they're right. smoothing out the curves, gaining power/tq in the midrange, it can be done with a VAFC, and it's worthwhile.
also, for the hondata fans, i would love a hondata, however, it's not "just a little more expensive" than a VAFC. p28+s200+conversion harness comes out to about 500 bucks, vs 200 bucks for a VAFC. unless someone has a secret place where they get their hondata systems...

How can we SH owner get a hand on the Type S ecu; so we can apply the Hondata system....... and can you elaborate on the capabilities of the E-Manage over the vafc.

exactly. I'm a drag ricer. I have no idea what ATTS is. I thought it was yet another experimental gimmick Honda decided to try on the prelude, much like the 4ws found on some 4th gens. but I guess I was wrong.
with your ATTS, I'm sure your 3000+ lb pig will pwn me in the twisties y0!

lol this ***** funny. People want different things, if you wanna have a straight up drag car and dont give a **** about cornering and ripping around turns, so be it ATTS isnt for you. If you like to rip around the turns and dont care about the extra weight, then by all means go for the ATTS. Everything is opinion based.

Sure people have opinions, but if you don't know **** about what your slamming, then they should keep their mouth shut, that's all.

lol I know what ATTS is you silly noobs. I was just suggesting that it doesn't exactly make me giggle. If you can get excited about it, good for you!
and yes, I have driven an SH. I drove one before I bought my 5th gen base model. Both of them handle like bloated pigs in my opinion, with the SH showing a little less understeer.

the atts still provides some traction in a straight line.....you will be the gayass hopping all the way down the 1/4 on your poor right tire.....

so the ATTS is like a traction / LSD ?.....I thought it just help on cornering becuase it only sensing the side to side body roll and transfer torque to the out side wheels so understeering is eliminated.

wrong. ATTS does nothing in a straight line.

you guys, I'm not trying to hate. this all started with a statement of opinion, although I guess it was uncalled for and kinda off topic. but who cares what I think?
and by the way, I am the gayass hopping down the track on one wheel. actually, my wheels don't hop, they just spin. open diff = one wheel wonder

almost EVERYONE is getting off topic. 98vtec is right, if you have basic bolt ons... VAFC is all you need. you wont be getting the best gains from it, but your will be getting something... it WILL shave time off of 1/4 miles and WILL improve how your engine runs. bottom line, VAFC is perfect for you.

why hasn't this thread died?
only a vtec controler = The GhEy
some tuneability past just vtec engaugement point = meh maybe if it were free

whats the point of putting a 400 dollar system plus 200-300 dollars in tuning into a stock motor....hmmm...yeah, no point.
