Default Worn Struts, and Resonance

So i'm new to the import scene and cars in general. just purchased a 01 vtec base prelude for 8 grand (includes some mods) but theres a few things that need fixing, top priority is my suspension, its horrible, on the life i could push up on the tire and push it all the way up.

I'm considering purchasing the Tokico Suspension Kit- HP Series
It has the springs and struts, my question is what else will i need? and how do i tell if the ball joints are worn out?

Second is i have some resonance that sounds like there's a hole in my exhaust, but theres not a hole, we've found its just resonance in the area of 2.75k rpm, sounds like its coming from the bottom middle or maybe even bottom drivers side of the front end, Any ideas on what to check or do?

Do lots of research before you buy any suspension parts, there is LOTS of info already posted. Look in the FAQs first.

Just look at your ball joints and if the rubber boot is torn you need to replace them. If there is any play you would also want to replace them, but that usually comes after the boots rip and the grease comes out.

Check your header near the back of the engine and there is a bracket that comes from the header and bolts onto the block under the oil filter. These always break and cause a rattle. Could also be heat shields or any number of other things, but who knows...

I believe the tokico hps are like stock replacements. look into koni yellows or kyb agx they are adjustable and are much more performace based

And check the flex pipe for a small hole, they can be tough to see

to check and see of you ball joints or tie rod ends are worn you can go get a aligmment check, they are usually free or jack the car up, try to pull the tire side to side and top and bottom ( kinda hard to explain) id there is any play they are usually bad/worn
