Simple answer: The offset is the distance that the outer edge of the wheel sits from the center line of the mounting flange. A wheel with +38 offset is terribly close to the limit for a lowered or regular height Lude. I'm at +40 and can assure you that it is close. Look for a wheel in the +45 range to be safe.
