What Part Is This?
Two questions. I put in a AEM cai. There was a vaccum tube going to the box indicated in the pic below from the resonator in the wheel well. What is this? Did I do the right thing by just disconnecting the vaccuum line from it and putting a cap on it?
Also, on the cai there was a hole in the top of it as depicted in the pic. They supplied a gromment, a tube connector, and a cap. I guess you are supposed to use all three of these together in order to cap off the hole? I dont like it! I am afraid it is going to get pushed or sucked into the intake when working on the engine. I have already knocked it off once when changing the fuel filter. What did you guys do about this annoying hole?

A friend of mine told me it is just part of the stock air box/intake, and can be removed by just loostening all the bolts and taking it right out.
And on top of your CAI, there should be a tube going into it ...because I have a Injen CAI and I have one of those also ...and a hose is covering that.
Good luck

That box is the vacuum resevoir (spelling?) for that butterfly valve in the resonator box......you can take out the black box (unplug the harness on it and leave it dangling) along with the mount it's on, and follow the vacuum line from the box to the intake manifold.....you can remove all of that and put a cap on the nipple on the intake manifold....
