I got a 4th gen prelude and was wandering if someone could tell me what this black box is and if I need it. It is behind the battery under my air intake. Has some vac lines going to it and looks like a sensor. I am boosting my lude and was wandering if i can get ride of it to have a better fit for my intercooler plumbing. If anyone has any input let me know....

 

Computer box. I forget what it controls though. Just unscrew it and move it out of the way. As long as it's plugged in and semi-stable it'll be fine

 

its not a computer box

 

if its on top of the mount(bolted in) then you can take it off and unplug it as long as you use the vaccum lines that they go to on something else like either plug them or use them for your vaccum lines when you boost. i did this on my 4th gen and i have yet to throw a check engine light soo ull be just fine.

that is the Intake Control Solenoid Valve.

 

I unplugged mine when I installed my intake.. Just unscrew the box from the sensor, and plug the vaccum lines wherever they are coming from and zip tie the plug out of the way
