VTEC vs. SI
Hey Guys.....I just got myself a username, so I am new at the posting thing. Anyway, I have a friend that has a 94 Integra GSR 4 door, and a friend that has a 93 Prelude SI. I want to be able to easily beat both of them, so I am in the process of buying a 95 Prelude Vtec. Now my friend who has the SI swears that the Vtec is not all that much faster then the SI. Out of these three cars the Vtec Lude would kick ***, right? Who would be second? Start a nice little conversation...
Well, the VTEC would for sure win, but not be THAT much. The small additional speed might not be worth the large additional costs of a VTEC.
Second place, would almost for sure go to the Si. The fact that your other friends GSR is a 4 door will really slow him down. If you have a lot of straight track to work with it would probably be close though, with the GSR maybe even winning due to the VTEC it has. The thing is, GSRs were made for only high end hp. The Variable valve Timing and lift Electronic Control (VTEC) system, symply allows the engine to function well at both low and high RPM, but that doesn't change the fact that the car only has a 1.8 liter engine, it just enhances it. In short, the GSR wont come close to the low level torque or overall raw hp that the Si has, but, with the VTEC technology, it allows the car to even be on the same level as the Si, and possibly even beat it.
's rule!

Umm... I think it would be Vtec Lude, then GS-R then Si. The 4th gen lude is the fastest out of all Preludes. It runs about 15.2 or less. The GS-R although is a great car, it's a little slower than the 5th gen. If the the 5th gen lude knows how to drive. The GS-R wil beat the Si for sure. The car may have some low end power but its heavier then the GS-R. GS-R has good luanches so it would pull away from the Si. So what I think would win is VTEC Lude, GS-R and Si lude. Trust me read the stats.
Wow, I got quite the variaty there....infact every single person gave me a different answer. So lets get lots more opinions...at this point, I am somewhat confused...Thanks! I don't know a lot, but I may have to agree with that last guy....Lets here more opinions...
U guys R stupid. The GSR would kick *** all around! Learn ur cars. It would be....GSR: First, SI: Second, and Vtec: LAST!
I agree with this quote. I totally agree that the VTEC Lude is fastest, but I believe that the Si VS. GS-R is WAY too close. It comes down to the driver.

i think the 4door GS R the the lude VTEC would be neck and neck, i know the GS R coupes run a 15.6 so a sedan is a 15.8 im guessing, and isnt that what the old lude VTECs ran? and yeah the lude Si would be a 3rd placer.
I also think that the GS-R sedan would come in second - all the one's I've seen tend to run every bit as strong as the 3-dr. Strong enough to loose to a VTEC 'lude by about 3-4 tenths and 1.5 mph in the quarter mile.

no way, as much as i love the lude, the gsr will beat the vtech lude and the Si in the quarter mile..even with the top end the gsr may be able to catch up to the Si but not the vtec lude...
You know, I'm really happy to see this honesty from all you guys. Some people just are sure that the car they own will win against anything no matter what, but you guys have realistic views. Keep it up!
I ran a 14.72 bone stock in me VTEC PRELUDE!!!!! It has a lot to do with the driver. I drove a friends GSR w/I/H/E and it ran a 14.80. (this was after my car was built) So, a modded GSR didn't beat the times of my VTEC stock. I also drove a friends Si the same night, 15.50. Stock. The fourdoor geezers aren't as slow as you think. They should be right up there or past the Si. Remember: Si = 160 hp... GSR=170. NOT that much of a wieght difference.
So, IMO: with equal drivers--> VTEC Lude (hands down, if you argue on this one, your're an idiot), GSR, then SI (very, very close race.) Really, it will come down to what day each car was built.

i would go with the vtec, ive seen a factory lude run 14.7, not even 5 days after the guy got it, so that set my beliefs in the lude, as for gsr vs si, i would have to go with the gsr
I usually disregard all post such as this.. because of ignorance like this..
VTEC Lude would EASILY win...
SI AND GSR are WAY to close to call, its the driver there..
Many people do not realize how fast the 4g VTEC ludes are.. I go huntin for ITRs

I totally agree with this post. I think that this is how it is. 4g Ludes (vtec) are quite speedy. GS-R and SI are VERY close, so it comes to the driver. Have a nice day Y'all!

here is my FINAL answer
assuming all drivers are of equal ability, the outcome SHOULD be:
1. VTEC 4th gen
2. GSR Sedan
3. Si 4th gen
although the Si shouldn't be beat by the GSR sedan by too large a margin.

Yeah, I think we've beaten this to death. I agree with the last post.

Good choice!!! Good luck finding one, I had a hard time finding one and so I went with the 5th gen which isn't as fast. But if you do find one, that would be great.
And finally, to beat the dead horse into a bloody pulp...I will agree with the other intelligent members of this board.
1. Prelude VTEC
2. GS-R Sedan
3. Prelude Si
with the Si just BARELY losing to the GS-R.
While I'm at it....what year(s) was the Prelude AWS available and was it base, Si, or VTEC?

the differences between those three cars, drag times wise, is NOT that much.
if you compare a GSR to a Vette or something, everyone will agree, but there are just too many variables involved with cars that have such comparable power/weight ratios.
I would tend to think, though, that all things being equal, a VTEC Prelude would outrun a GSR at the end of the 1/4 mile. Off the line it would be really close. GSR is lighter, Prelude has more torque... you get the idea. I don't know about the Prelude Si. Off the line it might get the VTEC Prelude and GSR, but at the end of the 1/4 mile, it might lose out to the GSR and should lose out to the VTEC Lude.
