Why on my 2001 Base model automatic prelude wont vtec kick, when I am on the freeway at top gear (4th) 4th gear on the freeway vtec does not kick in why? All other gears 1 2 3 kick in but 4th will not engage vtec why? (4th is a complete SLUG!) 3rd will get me to about 115mph on the track then when I shift into 4th and final gear it crawls, and I cannot get a vtec engagement. Is this normal? FIrst DOHC VTEC Engine I have ever had so I am not to familiar with VTEC FUnctions other then it kicks in at 5000RPM, in 1 2 and 3rd gears but will not in 4th?

Again this is on a 2001 Base Automatic techtronic Prelude.......
