Default vtec issues...

I just had mt flexpipe replaced because it was leakin like crazy and they replaced it with another one.

As i was driving off i test the car to see if there were any leaks or funny sounds.

And Bam when i hit vtec it sounds like it just exploded. Vtec kicked in hard as hell, but it did not feel like it was moving as quick as it did with the broken flexpipe. Also it feels a little sluggish when it hits vtec. Meaning that when it hits vtec it i feel like i lost some torque up in the mid to high end.

These are my mods: aem short ram, aem pullies, dc header, carsounds high flow cat, apexi world sport and a fuel pressure regulator @39PSI.

Note* When i got my car tuned with the fpr, i had a slight leak coming from the flexpipe. COuld this be the problem ?? would i need to retune??

thanks guys ...im just a little paranoid cuz my car sounds funny when it hits vtec.

Throw the DC header in the garbage. Most likly when you tuned, they compensated for the exhaust leak. An exhuast leak should not really effect performance unless its something MAJOR, like rotted/rusted piping with holes all over the place. Id say retune just for *****, or ask the guy who tuned your car if it sounds like a good idea

Also check all the normal things such as oil, etc..

the thing is that when it engages from 5200K to around 6K it has a sudden bam sound, but then as i get into 6-6500k on the rpm's it gets quieter. I dont know man its weird.

Im thinkin its my A/F ...

but dont know...let me know what you think..

is it like a steel hitting something bang/clunk? or is it exhuast related? If you are hearing some huge bang in your engine bay when you hit vtec, thats not good. If you are hearing a bang thats comming out the *** of the car, most likely a backfire.

its not a clanking sound...its sounds like its coming from the exhaust cuz the intake gets so loud when it hits vtec.

how would i correct this problem? tuning?

thanks for the responses....

Im pretty sure its just your vtec cross over. Some are louder than others, also depends on your current set up. mine kicks pretty loud and i dont even have my new headers or head on yet.if its like a freakin KABOOM sounds like a gunshot its a backfire. Most likely little bit of tuning would solve the prob.
