Hey I'm new around here so I just wanted to say what's up to all the current users.

Anyway, I'm having a bunch of problems with my 91 SI Lude.

First of is the idle. When I first start the car the idle travels between 2000 rpms and 1500. It does this in neutral or when I have the clutch pushed in. After driving it aorund a while it'll eventually stop and the car idles at about 900 rpms.( Is that where this yr Lude should idle at?) Some are telling me the IACV is causing the idle problems, but IM not exactly sure how to verify that. I'm thinking along the lines of a vacuum problem or maybe even the throttle body. Does anybody have any advice for this issue, or have experienced it before?

Another issue I have is my temp gauge barely works. Sometimes it will move slighty but that's just about it. Im thinking maybe the thermostat is sticking or just worn out. Can anyone tell me the thermostat location on the B21a1 engine?

Also, I live in NJ so emitions is a big problem over here. Your car must pass a state inspection in order for it to be drivable. It really sucks. Anyway, I recently ran my car through inspection and it failed horribly for emitions. All 3 gasses were way too high. Does anyone know what could cause such bad emitions? I was thinking possibly the O2 sensor, but that's all i can think of. Does anyone know of any other things that would cause such high emitions numbers?


I dont wanna barrage you guys with too much at once so ill cut it off there. Any hlp on these issues would be greatly appreciated. I really need this car to pass emitions so I can drive it cuz walking to work sucks
