Default update (overheating)

A few weeks ago I posted a thread about my car overheating (forth gen prelude vtec). I recently took my car to a radiator shop and did a thermo temperture check. According to the thermo gun, the radiator is putting out normal temperture heat (205-213), but my guage is showing that it's overheating(it gets all the way up to the red). My fans also turn on at about 210 degree. Usually when it get to the red or close to it, coolant will usually boil and overfill the small reservoir, but mine doesn't do that. I swaped out my temperture guage sending unit with my friend perlude and it still show that it's overheating. If it's a faulty sensor, which sensor could it be?

same problem here.... all seems to be working fine. i pined mines down to some type of electrical problem. it overheats when my headlights are on. SAME PROBLEM THOUGH... all the fans turn on, but no coolant is bubbling or making funny smells when the guage is at red.

Sounds like your fan switch or thermostat. Have them checked.

There are three temperture sensors. One is located on the thermostat housing, the other is located on the block below the distributer( one wire sensor), and the last one is located on the housing that is connected to the top portion of the radiator hose( the housing section that look like the thermostat housing). I know mine can't be the one on the the block because I changed that one with my friend prelude and it still showed that it's overheating. Let me know what happen if you ever change any of these sensors.

By the way, I have new water pump, thermostat, radiator cap, and my radiator is less than 2 yrs old.
