Default update

i am writing about a problem with the front end of my 5th gen. i have had a clunk in the front when accelerating and braking just before a complete stop for a few weeks now. i was given many ideas fron the folks at h-t but nothing panned out so i took the car to the shop twice now and still nothing. i was told the suspension is fine and the brake pads in front were loose and that was probably the problem. he said he adjusted the clips and turned the rotors and now i still have the problem and on top of it i now have squealing brakes. i am beginning to think that the brakes are the problem, being that it only knocks when the car is driven for a while just about the time the brakes start squealing. any help would be appreciated. thanks.

Axles? First thing to check are the boots. They tend to tear/dryrot and once the axle grease leaks out, it can cause to a problem you are describing.

Does it make this sound while coming to a stop in neutral and while in gear?

Maybe the caliper is loose causing it to shift back and forth.

boots are good, that was actually my first thought but to no avail. the car is an automatic. another thought was the trans was finally going.
