Type SH?????
I'm sure the question has been asked a million times, but I searched the forum and nothing came up and I never get a straight answer from the local dealer. What is the difference between an SH prelude and a non SH? Also, I'm interested in what kinds of times you guys run with your 5th gens and basic mods.
But you also get courtesy lights on the door, painted sideskirts and rear apron, wing and dont forget the cooler Enkei made rims
$2000 dollars is probably enough for Teins and Quaife...those are enough to out perform a Type SH.
Don't forget the tires. RE92 is a great passenger tire but not for performance.

Atts, Active Torque Transmission System. Keeping it simple, your car will handle better than the base, plus it will weigh a bit more. It is around 2000-3000 dollar difference also, (USD-CAD). I say use the money for mods.
Well, consider that the top of the line Prelude Type S in Japan has the ATTS and a Traction Control System (using info. gained from the ATTS sensors). If I had the choice of buying the 5th gen Prelude once more...I'd definately go for the SH again, for it's ATTS and wing and rims, etc. I'd much prefer it if they brought over the TCS for the Type SH model, then it would be a no-brainer on which model to choose. But then again, the NA market has always been "screwed" with the features that aren't available in our cars.
On the other hand, the Japanese Prelude S-Spec has a standard LSD rather than the ATTS, maybe the Japanese felt they didn't need the ATTS and that a simple mechanical LSD will suffice. Who knows.
You seriously can't go wrong with buying the Type SH, but if you dont care for the other additional features on the SH, and would prefer to track drive the car...then buy a base and use the money for modification.

Ack skip that...type SH is cool for that lil badge and a lil stiffer ride. Att I heard robs the power. Get the bas model it's cheaper lighter, and spend the money on other stuff.

Well i am proabably gonna buy an '01 electron blue base prelude this weekend, but I have only driven the SH. Is the ride any stiffer in the SH or is it only noticeable under hard cornering when the ATTS is enabled? I will probably drive it anyways but someone referred to the suspension being stiffer and I thought that besides the ATTS, the suspension was the same for the base and SH.
I've driven an SH and couldn't feet a difference between both of them. I would just go with a base model. With the extra $2-$3,000 you save, you can have a better suspension on a base model than an SH
Hmm....well i've got an SH that has been very modified....suspension, drive train, etc....still have SH rims tho.
These guys are right about one thing, if you don't feel like having that cool ATTS feature, then go for the base model, save that money and get a jrsc, or turbo.
If you ever want to change a clutch or flywheel in an SH........you better go to someone who knows what they are doing, b/c MOST people CANNOT do it. Taking out that ATTS unit first to get to the tranny is a pain in tha...you know where.
Its a little nicer, interior and exterior wise with the additional features.....but.....
its all a matter of what you prefer.
My SH will beat many base preludes.....unless they have turbo or SC.
My SH also, under a test, showed .96g in the skidpad.....
I have ground controls w/ custom spring rates, and koni adj. shocks
Preludes still ROCK either way you go!
