I need some HELP!!! ... i'm having transmission problems ... when i step on the clutch, and stop (with stick in gear), my car acts as if it's still part way in gear ... and the car wants to stall, but then it doesn't ... and when you get into gear from a full stop, the clutch wont grab onto the wheels ... the car acts as if you just dropped the clutch (on and off) ... it was suggested that i need to change my transmission fluid ... any other ideas?? ... I need some HELP!!! ... pls let me know if you need more of an explanation ... thx in advance ...

sounds to me that your clutch is not grabbing (slipping). How many miles on your lude. do you abuse your car. your MTF should be changed every 30k miles.

 

How many miles do you have on that clutch?

 

could be the clutch master cylinder..... it can effect the hyrdrolics in the clutch..... maybe air in the lines???? don't know..... does the pressure in the pedal feel ok??

 

what is MTF?? ... the clutch pressure feels ok ... have 155 000 km on the car ... that's just under 100 000 miles ...

 

clutch master cylinder?? ... what needs to be done to fix it?? ... what are you symptoms?? ... i'm hoping changing the clutch fluids will help ... and if i have to i'll change the clutch ... any suggestions on clutches?? ... thx

sounds to me like ur clutch isnt disengageing, when my clutch master cylinder went out, it stayed in gear even w/the clutch to the floor, look on the rod on the back of the clutch pedal, if its all gunked up its goin out, would als want to change ur slave cylinder. u could also try to adjust ur clutch pedal.

btw what year is ur car?

 

my car is 97 ... and i got it checked today ... my mechanic thinks it's the pressure plate ... he's suggesting to change the whole clutch unit ... what do u think?? ... i'm thinking of clutch master ... stage 3 perhaps ... maybe do the flywheel too ... any comments??

Hey man, does you car roll forward like an auto tranny car?? When this happens does the shifter get stuck in gear??

If so, I had the same problem with my tranny in my 1992 Prelude Si. I has no idea what it was so I just bought a new clutch and a used H23 tranny to same me any trouble. The mechanic didn't give me a straight forward reason for what was happening and he ended up "throwing away" tranny away without telling me.

I thought it was related to either the pressure plate or throwout bearing. My car had the original clutch on it and it had 157K mlies.

PLEASE let me know if you find out what the issue is. I think I am going to sue the guy for not giving back my tranny.
