Tranny Swapping.
My 1997 JDM (right-hand drive) Prelude's auto tranny failed a couple weeks back. I am considering swapping it out to 5-speed.
Does anyone know if the shift linkage for the 4th gen and 5th gen are the same? Is the gearbox the same? Will all the pedals, ECU, harness, and cylinders work with the 5th gen?
Need as much help as possible!

Is your '97 ATTS equipped? That can be an issue. The 4th gen tranny, axels, clutch slave cylinder, flywheel, clutch etc. should work fine on the 97. I have no experience with the RHD issue. The rest of the parts may be fine, or you may have problems. There are a lot of parts you will need. The ECU will probably throw a code without the auto tranny connected, but the car should still run fine. You may be able to fake it out with a couple resistors so it think's it's hooked up to the tranny solenoids; I'm not sure on that. You can always use a manual ECU, or switch to an OBD 1 ecu. Might be able to convert OBD 2 ecus to manual, not sure on that either. I know OBD 1 can be converted. Good luck and let us know how it goes if you decide to do it...
