Default timing question

when i was setting the timing on my H22 i noticed that if you aim the gun at different angles you can see a different reading. Should the gun be aimed straight down or straight into the hole in the transmission? Sorry if that sounds a little dumb but i just wanna make sure my timing is set right....

If you look in the hole in the transmission, you will see something
like this /\^/\ .

Aim the light and read it directly off the center point.

Make sure you jump the service connector when timing it.

It should be hitting the 15 deg mark on the flywheel not
the TDC mark.

good luck

Hmmmm, so whats the reason for jumping the service connector? I didnt do that and i got it set fine from what it seems. And by service connector you mean the one behind the shifter console right?

So you can get true timing, when you jump the connector you ground the ecu.
