Default temp. problem

lately my car is taking forever to warm up. Yes i realize it is winter here but it seems i can drive hours and i will still be on one bar for the temp. IF i leave the heat off or put it on resurculate(spelling) then it heats up normaly but as soon as its on just suck air in from the outside it usualy drops back down to one bar. is this normal? could my antifreeze/water ratio be off someone told me that could affect it. thanks

could be your engine is getting to much coolant.....my friend had this problem in his volvo and all they had to do is adjust a lever and it was fixed.
