Lol, I suspect maybe then went loose in the p-w clearance from the factory? The HC engines I know of don't seem to consume oil, and think about the rev range those engines live at.

Look at the last graph on the last page... piston ring wear is about 3-4x in the FRM as compared to iron sleeves. Everybody talks about the rings being some of the first things to go on H's as well (which I always thought was odd since Honda started as a piston ring mfg), but it all makes sense now.

My guess on the HC cars is that they aren't seeing high mileage between builds, which it seems is the bigger cause of the ring wear and oil loss (just a guess).
