Hello guys

So my 5th gear syncro went bad and messed up my reverse. Also they said the main seal was bad. It costed ALOT!! to replace. Why do syncros go bad? is it common in honda's and acura's? whats the deal?

Synchros don't tend to be one of the stronger parts of a Honda tranny.

 

You can consider them tiny "clutches" that take the brunt of the stresses in the tranny when changing gears. These work and wear out over time just like a normal clutch does, but they do save your precious tranny gears and internals!

depends on what your driving style is like... it also makes a difference if tons of people who have never driven stick b4 try for the first time on your car

 

very common. I've had 2 h23a1(m2s4) trannys with bad 3rd gear syncros.
