Spoon are definately the best - but they are ridiculously expensive.

Neuspeed is more bang for your buck, and probably all you need for a street application.

A bar is a bar. Unless you care about the looks, get whichever is the cheapest on that fits.

No bar, just a JRSC .. spoon bar in the rear tho..

I would get the type S bar for the front if I didn't have the SC

An intake is an intake.. an exhaust is an exhaust.. even "a pencil is a pencil".. not so! Some pencils are those cheap nearly all glue bend as you write cheapo's (but are cool for melting in shapes), and others are the solid wood which don't really bend. Same thing with intakes. Just like everything, the quality of the build, materials used, and design, will have a factor on the final outcome.

For the most part, your statement is accurate. There is only marginal difference in power between different cat-back exhausts available for the Prelude. Same with cold air intakes - very little difference in power beteween the 3 or 4 brand name options that are available.

A strut bar is an even bigger no-brainer, becuase it's just a bar. All it has to do is tie one strut tower to the other. To do this, it has to resist longitudinal compression. As long as the bar is a tubluar design, and the endlinks are bolted down to factory spec such that they don't move, any bar will do. I promise you that if we did a blind test you could not tell the difference between driving your car with a $20 generic bar from ebay and a Spoon Sports bar.

Andrew - who has a very expensive Spoon Sports bar, but only choose it because of the pretty finish and the brand name appeal

Neuspeed for sure. It's all one piece... and it's a tough S.O.B.... can't bend it over your knee like the cheap brands. Spoon is awesome but way too expensive.

Did you try standing on it and bouncing up and down? I did on my spoon bar. It barely flexed. I'm not saying the Neuspeed would bend, just asking if anyone tried it.

That's not really a relevant test for a strut tower bar. An STB does not see loading forces from the top, but rather from the sides... If you push in on both the sides (the ends) simultaneously and the bar flexes, then the bar is a poor design.

i.e.:

force-> )-----------bar-----------( <-force

Andrew

EDIT: trying to draw in ASCII sucks.

Yea anyawy...as for your question. I tested Neuspeed vs. TypeS vs. Stock (none) and i'd have to say that the typeS came out on top. It just felt more firm and has a great thick construction.
TypeS
Neuspeed

That makes sense. I guess all the brands are good, but for God's sake, stay away from DC sports. I was considering them until I heard countless stories about them bending from stress over a period of time and only being good for the bling factor.

specialque - how much for the type s strut bar?
Also- do you mean Fairfield CT? I go to school there

you know you could just take a peice of sturdy piping or a rod, weld a seem down the middle (like . . . . . . down the length) and it will increase how rigid it is by alot. Alot of Japanese road racers (Spoon for example) do this to the unit body to help decrease body flex
