Default Starting Problem: starter turns even without key

when i started my car today...it started fine but the starter continued turning even while the car was already on.
i quickly turned the key to turn it off and took the key out...
the motor cut out but the starter still continued spinning!

so i rushed to open the hood to disconnect the battery (no tools) and luckily the positive terminal was not very tight.

my car is able to start without pressing in the clutch because i jumped the clutch switch

but what could be the problem?

im thinking the main relay is stuck to the ON position or the ignition switch is stuck to the ON position too.

i also resoldered the main relay many months ago to fix it

every time i plug the battery back on...the starter begins to turn.

so maybe its not the ignition switch?

the main relay is the starter relay right?

sometimes the solenoid on the starter sticks, see if whacking it a couple of times makes it stop.

i think it is the solenoid
but whacking it didnt budge it

i unplugged the ignition wires and even the main relay...but the starter will still turn when i plug the battery
i even put back the clutch switch and same thing

i might end up getting a new starter tomorrow

Definitely sounds like a bad solenoid on the starter.
