starter problems
My car is a 94 lude jdm h22 swap... it has a reman starter... its been really slow starting for a while. And today I went to start and it was really slow cranking over like a dead battery and it took 3 tries to start it.. swapped it out for a dif battery same thing so I took the starter off and hooked it up to the battery and the plunger comes out hesitantly and then finally comes out and spins like it should so I just stuck it back in and now when I true to start it i can hear it spin but its not catching the flywheel. I can hear it grinding.. flywheel is stock and doesn't really look chewed up neither does the starter.
What do you think is the problem?

The motor, or solenoid could be worn out. The starter motor had brushes on the inside that conduct the electricity, and over time they do wear out. Also make sure your batter is good, your connections are clean, and that you dont have alot of resistance in the wires. The only way you can check the resistance is by having current being drawn thru and doing a voltage drop test.
The battery is good its 5 months old and I swapped it out for another known good battery. The plunger looks like its coming out as far as it can and its spinning enough to start it
My starter used to grind against the flywheel and I had to crank it several times, then I found out I had an Auto starter, I went and bought a new one for a M/T at Autozone and problem solved. The M/T starters have longer teeth.
