Default Speaker positioning

I just bought a set of alpine components for my 93 si aws.I just wondering were some of you guys positioned your tweeters for the rear set. I'm planing on having them surfaced mounted right there with the 3rd brake light. Any suggestions for optimum placement. Thanks

don't put tweeters in the rear. they distort the sound and make it hard, if not impossible, to achieve proper imaging. you shouldn't have any highs behind you, they should only be in front.

You should have Coaxials in the Rear deck, You should have the component set up front and I would mount the tweeter in the stock mounting location on dash.

Also, If your running the Alpine Type Rs... don't skimp out on the amp. Those speakers are 110watts RMS... So you need a Alpine/JL Audio/Rockford 400x4 Amp

put some lows in rear and highs in front for better sound quality . you want to keep the base in the back of the car so it echo's to the front nicely when you have highs it sounds like a mess .

if you have a higher end alpine deck and can adjust delay settings, putting high's in the rear is fine as all the sound will reach your ears at the same time and give you a better soundstage. i don't know 4th gens, but if it was originally a 6x9 like on 5th gens, there are kits you can buy to convert that space to a 2-way setup. this is the most recommended as you'll keep the imaging from the same place. if you move the tweeters too far from the mid-range, you'll get weird delays and phasing depending on where you sit. in the back, you're probably okay to shoot it straight up at the glass and get some reflections, which will help it sound a little more "surround". for a drier, tighter sound, point the tweeters more towards the cabin.

just leave the rear stock speakers in the rear... just get a good 4 channel amp and front splits with a sub for the boot. thats all you need

my alpine deck allows me to sound stage, so that's why i considered putting them in the back, b/c i dont think they will fit in front, but ill give it a shot. im runing alpine type x components with amps. thanks for eveyones input

They should fit up front, but you are going to need a custom MDF board spacer, and cut the stock plastic hole out. But still, I would run the components up front and the coaxial in the rear. Mounting the tweeter & crossover in the rear will be a pain I think and it's really not necessary if your going to have a sub. really, I think all you need is a quality 10'' sub and a nice set of components up front. The apine Type X, are very nice btw. I'm running all Alpine Type R's with a 110x4 amp and a JL sub in the back.. it sounds perfect. to me.

im tryin to get rid of my subs, they weight too much. thats why i got the type x's. hopin to get a lil more bass out of them. but my alpine deck does have sound staging and imaging on it. so hopefully ill be able to get them soundin alright.

Like said b4, components in the rear are not what you want.

And to get the most bass out of them your going to need to have a very solid mount for them and maybe even use some bafles. I have a full alpine system including a 4x amp and overall im not impressed. It does sound nice tho.
