Shock nut- in trunk
Yea, I just saw the hex cut in the top of the stud. Considering it's 29 degrees today and I don't have the right size key, this project isn't going to happen today. Thanks for your help guys.

im doing this right now...what size allen wrench is it..its on a 96 civic sedan...the 5mm is too small and the 5.5 is too large...

Since you said "in the trunk" I'm guessing it's still in the car. If you remove that nut with everything still in the car, it's gonna be hard to physically remove it from the car when the time comes. You're supposed to remove the nuts on the left and right, and the one on the bottom, remove the whole assembly from the car, then remove the top one while the spring is either A: compressed or B: aim it away from everything you value
