Default S2k oil filter

I have read that you gain oil pressure by running this but how could this be. The oil filter does not control oil pressure the spring in the pump does, so how could you gain oil pressure ?

because its free-er flowing.

basically you don't "lose" more pressure verses the specific oem filter. thats all.

basically like tuning a car, you don't "gain" power, you unlock power that was already there..

the only time the filters are different sizes are when you get the oem honda filters. If you buy say a puralator or a fram they are the same for the s2k and the lude and the civic for that matter.

thats true for the ap1 with the 2.0 motor, the ap2 with the 2.2 has a smaller filter for fram, i know because i prelude fram ones wouldnt fit on my sh cuz it was too big, so i had to buy a ap2 fram filter.

well where are you buying? i mean you can only buy it at the dealership... so just ask them. i have the part number somewhere (because i buy a dozen s2k filters at a time). but i can easily just look it up at the dealership online website.

both filters should fit fine.

The bigger one might be a little tight for the sh. because the oil filter is in a different location.

yea I pay good money for mobil1 oil, so I don't change every 3000, so I wouldn't go for an oem kilter.

I change mine every 5k, I use only Hamp filters, they're supposed to be good for more than 5k and they have the same "increased oil pressure" gimmick as the s2k filters, though I have no guage to prove/disprove that.

I read the review on filter on ntpog and decided to go with NAPA gold filter, I asked for the 2004 and up S2K (AP2 smaller filter) oil filter and he gave me a NAPA GOLD 1334 oil filter which later I found out it is the 2000 - 2003 S2K (AP1) oil filter as it was listed in the ntpog oil filter review back in 2001, I called them again this morning b4 my oil change and asked them for the correct oil filter and they said all S2K from 2000 - 2007 use the same oil filter with the part number NAPA GOLD 1334, I noticed this 1334 oil filter is the same size as my old FRAM oil filter for a H22a only it feels much heavier than the FRAM oil filter. If anyone is using the new smaller NAPA GOLD oil filter , please post a part number so I can prove the NAPA guy wrong and get the right smaller filter (I want to see if my oil pressure increase) for my next oil change....
thankyou

I work at Napa so I can fill you in on a little info, the 1334 filter fits almost all hondas from 1990-1997 or so. If you asked for a filter for your prelude, he would have given you the same filter. Im not at work today, but if you want I can get you a list of applications that that filter will fit.

but I did ask for a 2004 S2K oil filter which everyone say it will be a smaller size oil filter, that why I only want to know if there is another part number for 2004-2007 S2K oil filter at Napa.... if NAPA sells all 2001-2007 S2k with the same oil filter (1334) then that would be fine too since I only want to see if the actual smaller S2K filter will increase my oil pressure that is all (yes I have oil pressure and oil temperature gauges isntalled in my Prelude so I can tell if it increase or not)....

The stock honda filters are different sizes.

If you get any aftermarket ones the are the same size.

thanks Giant_Bean for the new infor for NAPA GOLD 1334
I also called 3 other NAPA stores in my city and they all gave me the same 1334 part number for all S2K (2001-2007). So far I am very happy with this NAPA GOLD 1334 because I can really tell my valves make way less ticking noise in the 2000 - 3500 RPM range (I have a digital RPM gauge in my VTEC controller so I can tell the RPM range), althought the oil pressure stay the same as b4 for this filter, I used the same MOBIL 1 5-W30 for all my oil change...
BYE BYE 4ever to FRAM oil filter which makes my valves ticking like it going to blow up in my face....
my next oil change I will try out the OEM AP2 (2004 - 2007) S2K oil filter which everyone say it is smaller to see if the oil pressure increase..
thankyou all for the good infors and save my valves from exploding into my face very soon if I keep on using FRAM oil filter...
Until my next oil change then...

I'd like to clarify something. In Asia, HAMP (Honda After Market Parts), are green filters which are LOW COST alternatives to the BLUE HOP (Honda Original Parts) ones. The HAMP filters we get here are about half the cost of BLUE HOP filters and are made in Thailand. Better do some research before forking out your US$! BTW, Mugen makes some very expensive filters too.
