Default reverse light problems while driving forward

I was following one of my buddies the other night on some twisty roads. Them being in a raised Jeep, I passed them. Later that day they told me that when I passed them and approached a curve, my reverse lights came on a few times. I am assuming I was downshifting at the time, but its not like I was searching for a 6th gear or something.

I tried to replicate this problem by goign through the gears while the car was on but stopped with a window to the back of my car, and they only turned on when the car was in reverse. Its kinda weird. Doesn't really bother me too much but if its something easy, I would rather fix it.

Has anyone else ever had this problem

opps quick edit. I have a 92 prelude with a JDM h22a matched with the OEM Si tranny

Have you checked out the reverse light switch on the tranny? 2 wires and straight down from the distributor...

some more information on this problem, while driving home this weekend from school, I realized that when ever I am in 5th gear while moving, my reverse lights are one. The wireing harness for the reverese lights on the transmission are connected properly.

I doubt its the wiring. Sounds like a switch problem. Luckily, you can get that thing anywhere....

Don't let them stay like that though, they will literally melt the taillight housing....

my friend has a 5.0 mustang and every time he shifts in to 4th gear the reverse light flashes. if my reverse lights were too much of a problem i would just pull the bulbs. its not illegal to not have them.
