replace windshield weather stripping?
Has anybody done this before? or is this one of those things best left to the professionals.
I ask because my prelude has been leaking water into the interior cabin during heavy rain right where the rear view mirror is. i suspect its because the weather stripping around the driver side of the windshield has started to raise providing a large gap.

You could be in for a whole lot more than new weatherstripping here. Some of these cars had an issue with that coming up, and they redesigned the molding kit a few times through the years even.
I had the same issue, but not water in the middle, I had water and cold air on the drivers side. When I replaced my windshield once, the guy ground out some rust and put on inhibiter, then reglued it with alot of glue, and reused the old molding. Within 3 months the molding was peeling up and I had visible rust again. Then the windshield cracked on a super cold day, so time for more work!
I had the windshield pulled, and proceeded to remove rust. Grinding away some of it found holes in the metal, some up to 3/4 inch at their widest point. After all rust was removed, I fixed the holes, and primed the whole frame with self-etching primer, then a second normal primer step, then repainted the whole windshield frame and front 1/3 of the roof of the car to blend. Then finally put in a new higher quality windshield with a brand new oem molding and clip kit, and guess what, no more wet or wind, and the molding and all has stayed in its proper place so far, only like 5 months and 2000 miles so far, so hard to really tell.
This may seem drastic, but it totally fixed my problem.

Do you have full coverage insurance?
If so, and the weather stripping is the problem, I'm sure you may have an idea of where I'm going with this.

wow i didnt realize this would be such a big ordeal. I'll have to look into it some more to figure out 100% if this is the problem and if its worth it to fix
Can I assume your car is a 92-93? maybe look into the molding and clips from a 95-96 car, I think they stay in better, and if you catch rust in there before it gets too bad like mine did would obviously be better.
