Remove Headlight and Taking it apart
Does anyone know how to remove the right headlight from a 98 Lude? Mine has water in it, so I have to remove it, clean it out, and re-seal it. I think I have to take the quarter panel off, but I don't even know how to do that. Also, how to take it apart?
1.start by taking off your front grill. there are a few plastic slips holding on the grill when you pop the hood (you remove them by using a flat head screwdriver and poping up the middle section).
2. once thats off, you will see more plastic clips on the bumper, remove these as well.
3. after all the plastic clips are off, look under the bumper, wher the splash shield is. you should see a few 10mm bolts, take those off.
4.next, inside each of the front wheel wells you will see 10mm bolts holding the bumper to the frame, remove these.
5. now the front turn signals. look in the nouth of the bumper. you may need a light to see them, but there are screws (one per signal) holding them onto the bumper. use a phillips screwdriver to remove these. whith the signal out, remove the bulb/signal and set aside.
6. you should be ready to remove the bumper by now. work one side at a time, wiggling the bumper near the headlight area. it will require some convincing to get it off, but trust me, nothing will break. take your time, you don't want it to suddenly give and go flying!
7. with the bumper off, disconnect the turn signal harnesses on the sides of the bumper.
8. next, disconnect the 3 bulb harnesses on each of the headlights (hi, lo, driving).
9. finally time to remove the headlights! there are 3 bolts per headlight: one on top, one on the side/under the fender, and on the opposite side as well, they should be pretty easy to see by now.
10. to open the headlights...(this is where someone else finishes cause i have never opened my headlights, and i don't know how. or you could look for a HID retro-fit post somewhere on here)

10) Turn the oven on at about 300-330 degress and make sure the bottom burner turns on and not the top one
11) Find a cookie sheet or something and put foil on it
12) Place headlights on cookie sheet, and place into oven for about 5min. be sure to keep an eye on your lights so they don't melt
13) Take lights out, and pry them apart with a flat head screw driver
14) Do everything in reverse to put the lights back together

I would seriously start with the temp more around 200 deg. Maybe 225!!
After about 3-5 min in the oven start prying them apart LITTLE BY LITTLE. Take you TIME. Put them back in the oven as many times as you need to get them apart.
BUT TAKE YOUR time and can not say this enough if you try to force them apart too quickly or hard they will break.
It isn't that hard but be patient and it will go very smooth.
Good Luck

You might aswell paint your headlight housing ring black at the sametime if you want the black headlight housing look.

Does it really require doing all that to take it off? Im replacing my stock headlights with some aftermarket black headlights I got off of ebay. It seems like it doesn't require that much work....

I tried to take mine apart while following a youtube video. I left it in the oven at 200 deg. for over an hour and the glue still didn't melt. After the first 15 mins, I put it in for another 15 mins and still no luck so I left it in for another 30 mins. After not being able to pry them apart, I just gave up. Any pointers?
