Default Redline Differences

My friend has a 94 Integra GSR and I am gonna buy a Prelude VTEC. I think I found one to buy. But anyway, today I was looking at a 94. So what I am wondering about is the redline on these cars. The Prelude redlinds at 7500 and then GSR redlines at 8000. There like the same motors, cept the prelude is a little bigger. Why is this? Is it safe to take the lude up to 8000, they just felt like putting it at 7500 or what?

theyre not the same motors but bigger, its different, gsr motor is 1.8 ltr, and prelude is 2.2, on the prelude you dont have to rev to a such higher rpm to make power like smaller displacement motors i think, correct me if im wrong

They are not even "basically' the same engine. They are very different. Perhaps you're thinking of the B series motors that came in the 3rd gen (still very different engine than the common B series engines). The 4th gen VTEC and 5th gen all come with H series motors. They're not even close to being the same, unless you mean they both have 4 cylinders.

H series motors have much worse r/s ratios than the higher revving B sereis engines. Hence their lower redline, plus they have their torque/hp peak much earlier in the rev range than the B series motor.
