Default Is it really worth it???

I am interested in an RS-R exhaust because I AM a JDM *****... but I recently discovered that they cost a f#@!ing lot.... so my question is are they really worth the money... or should I spend the money on Apex or maybe Tanabe?

Well, if you're a JDM *****..check out the Mugen exhaust. if you ask me, they definitely arent worth the money.

edit:: but this is coming from a kid who can't afford them.

First of all, you are opening a huge can of worms dude, and if I'm right the "JDM-Hater Club" should be here shortly.

Next, I don't know a damn thing about that RS-R exhaust. But, as far as the whole "I love JDM" thing, it's kinda hard to be a JDM ***** without the requisite loot dude, after all it is an expensive obsession. Even if you are gonna splurge on indiscriminate pricey Japanese market items for their "bling" appeal, IMO they should actually be from companies with sound proven reputations for actual performance (i.e. Spoon, Jun, Mugen, etc). I know that I wouldn't want some rare expensive JDM exhaust/header/whatever that just looks nice.

If you can't afford to satisfy your JDM cravings with something that actually performs, I'd advise you to get something less flossy and more functional.

I wasn't aware that Mugen made an exhaust for 4th gen preludes.... only for the 5th gen. I don't knoe the different specs on different exhaust... but that's why I posted so I could make an educated decision. I do enjoy the JDM trend, and I do have the money... but the question was is it really worth it??? I need to know which companies make an exhaust for 4th gen and which produces more power and a strong nice sound.

I don't hate JDM, I just don't see the need to obsess over it so much. I use whatever product gives me the most HP. If it's from Japan, then so it's from Japan.

I think it's getting WAAAAAAAY too dumb though. I said it a long time ago, and people made fun of me... now everyone else is starting to catch on to it. JDM is nothing more than an expensive version of the next RICE.

Just because it comes from Japan, doesn't make it better.

Why not just do custom with an Apexi N1 muffler? You'd still have the JDM look, you'd save money, and you'd make more power.

I say get whatever gives you the most bang for the buck, and I think that exhausts are such a small mod (horsepowerwise) that it is not worth it.

yep, i am here alrighty..... JDM is nothing more than glorifed rice, if you buy a muffler just b/c it's JDM, and not b/c of the power it adds, then that is the same as going and buying one from autozone

A Japanese student was recently an exchange student at my school and he had the following to say about the JDM craze," I don't understand why some of you Americans spend all of your money making you cars stock with Japanese parts?" And if you think about it, it makes a lot of sense. I mean if it gives us the largest gain, then go for it but otherwise i think that it is overrated.

you should see the cars in Japan, everything over there is extreme, outrageous body kits, big wheels, turbo everything, nothing looks like what we would call JDM

I ******* love JDM. Who cares if i spend 5x as much for something, the km/h gauge cluster that I have works MUCH better then the shitty stock mph one that the car came with. And ever since i put those JDM VIN tags on my car I swear vtech has gotten louder! It was well worth the 200 bucks in my opinion. When i bought my car it was in stock form, so when i spend hundreds or thousands of dollars i want to keep it stock looking and make sure nobody but myself know all of the expensive *** goods that it has, even if it serves no function at all. JDM is the shizzle my nizzle, dont be jealous of me because i have a better brand that you have. And lets see who has the last laugh when i wax all of you with my spoon motor t88 turbos and JDM bottle of imported nawwwzzzz.

you're all full of ****.....the guy just wanted to know what exhaust would be best for his application and evidentally tends to like the RSR....my opinion is this...the RSR is nice....but get something cheaper, most exhausts are going to give you the same horsepower gains anyway......I think you should skip the exhaust and get that H22 unless you already have!

now pay attention, b/c he already SAID HE HAS AN F22!!!!! AND he pointed out that he specifically wanted the RSR b/c it is JDM,not b/c of performance, further more, he DID ask for opinions

boy you guys sure took this topic pretty far.... If someone had just said that an exhaust doesn't improve HP that much and any exhaust will do.... that's all that I really need to here. Thanks for all your opinions though. It made me think about how I customize my lude

Hold on there smarty pants...I took the time to read his profile and believe that it said he was saving for an H22....I suggested that he forget about that exhaust and get the H22, hence me comprehending the fact that he did not already have an H22 in his car....unless he had already gotten the H22 in which case he should just get a cheaper exhaust.....we on the same page now sweetheart...i hope so.

You are so right on this one... I see all these thread about JDM parts, and that's not even close to what really is around here.

oh sweet lord...he said he has an f22....where is it I am wrong here? read his profile...thats all i did....I obviously drew the wrong conclusion from him having "future plans: JDM H22 type s" in his bio
That surely means that he should keep putting money in his f22 and not save for that h22 that he is obviously not considering buying....Im not against you man, ....Its just that i would forget the exhaust altogether and start saving more for that H22 unless he has already ordered one....but seriously im not trying to be a dick I just want you to see that he is looking into an H22 and i think that any exhaust at this point would be a waste, thats $500 - $700 towards his swap....k peaches?
