I just bought a 91 2.0Si that runs like a champ EXCEPT my a/c. Now living in ARIZONA, the last thing you want to have go out is that! So I turn it on & it just blows hot air. Once in a while, you can feel the cold trying to push through to no avail. The motor & fan are both strong, my car doesn't overheat at all but no cold air! When I turn my car off, the fan will run, depending on how disgustingly hot it is out here, for at least 5-15 minutes.

I had someone look @ it & showed me the front bottom part of the radiator fully saturated in soot & build up (leaves, pebbles, paper, etc). He claimed the air was not flowing through & that is why the a/c doesn't blow cold & why my fan runs forever. I took it to a lazy radiator "specialist" who told me to come back tomorrow cuz it was going to take too long to remove the radiator to clean it.

WHAT IS IT??? Condenser? Radiator? Fan?

Oh yeah, and thinking this would resolve the issue prior to that, I converted it from R12 to 134 & completely filled the freon!

 

do you hear your compressor kicking on?

it should get kinda cold still if theres no air goin thru imo

 

if its leaking or just needs recharge, partsource/napa/autozone etc. sells recharge/leak stop kits (R-14A<newer one i think) systems that work magically. my ac had leaks and never worked. put the leak stop in and recharged and havn't had a problem in 2 years now.
